As a kid, I was a real big fan of the Lakers, and this was before Kobe and Shaq. The two stars were Nick Van Axel and Eddie Jones. But as time went on and players got traded, I realized that the Lakers no longer were the Lakers that I knew. At least in college basketball, every person on that team is from that school, but why shouldn’t every person on the Lakers be from LA? Does it make sense to live and die for a team that is a constant revolving door of new faces?
So if you break it down what you have is a brand that represents nothing, and ordinary people being emotionally invested in watching millionaires playing a game. Also these millionaires don’t know who you are or care about you. This is a real wacko world we live in. I’d rather play basketball than watch millionaires play. And this is why it’s a much better experience to watch World Cup Soccer, or the Olympics.
So for the longest time it felt like I was the only one who thought this way. It wasn’t until I stumbled across the following video where I knew that I finally have a peer.
