Toshiba has the Most Reliable laptopsBy John Kim | January 29th, 2010
|
Is it just me or does it seem like laptops last only a few years and completely break down, which only makes sense. Laptops go through a tremendous amount of domestic abuse from it’s owners so it’s just a matter of time before they become completely useless. There are literally a hundred things that can go wrong on any given day, so it’s a wonder how the convenience can outweigh the cost. But people still flock to purchase a laptop, fill it’s hard drive full of important irreplaceable documents, then wet their pants when they lose it all. I guess that’s just the price we pay to look cool at Starbucks. It’s really not enough to look cool with your steaming hot cup of bean juice, they need to have a laptop to spill that bean juice all over. I hope you have some extra pairs of diapers. For this reason I feel it’s my civic duty to at least educate my 10 readers on what laptop brands are considered the most reliable.

Improve Site Performance with GZIPBy John Kim | January 15th, 2010
|
One of the biggest killers of a website is slow performance. A few years ago, the rule was to have your website load no longer than 13 seconds on a 56k modem. In the age of high speed internet, your site shouldn’t take longer than 5 seconds to load up. This magic number derives from the bounce rate of internet users based on load time, and with such strict guidelines, I find it amazing that most developers place performance last on their priority list. Although there are tons of tips and tricks to use while optimizing a website, a really easy one is to add gzip to your web server.

Michael Stars Fall Jewelry ImagesBy John Kim | January 10th, 2010

On November of 2009 Curiosity Media had the privilege to take product shots for the Michael Stars Website. We had set up a tiny makeshift studio to display each jewelry on a white background, and there was up to 15 different products which each had 3 different set ups. The photo session was about 3 hours total which left us exhausted.
